I have often said that the only way I am going to fill the date grid for January is to hold events in a pub on every day because I so rarely go geocaching in January because of the bad weather. My posts for January every year seem to start that the caching year started like previous years with events in pubs… 2017 was no exception
But the thing is neither of these two January events were any good for filling the calendar as I had already been to an event on the 10th January 2016 and found a handful of caches on 28th Jan 2012

10th January 2017 – ‘uddersfield ‘ogmanay 2017 GC6WR7B – cache #4161
The first cache of 2017, again, just like last year the first cache is the ‘ogmanay – an event much liked by the beer drinkers because a) they sell good beer and b) it’s on the station platform so you can get a train home easily – if you happen to live anywhere near a train station, which I don’t !

28th January 2017 – Drink and Chat at Ogden GC6XW3W – cache #4162
In 2016 the corresponding Mega Committee event was my 4,000th geocache… this was my 4,162, it’s plain that 2016 was by far my lowest year for smileys…
