14th August 2012 – Hidden Aireborough III GC3MWBT – cache #2026
Some caches just can’t be found on one visit, maybe because there are too many people about which stops you searching properly, or maybe because you just can’t find the darned thing. This particular cache took me four visits to find, admitedly because these were lunchtime visits from work I only had less than ten minutes each time to search for the cache, which was in a hedge, out of sight, retrieved by pulling a green string (in a green hedge) and furthermore the co-ordinates were known to be inaccurate so the cache was described as ‘slightly downhill’ from a fixed object – so who’s to say how far ‘slightly’ is ? Anyway I became familiar with the dark tunnel like steps between the shops leading up to the cache… eventually I spotted the green string and wondered how I could ever have missed it the previous 3 times I had been there… not sure I could find it easily again though !
17th August 2012 – Off Yer Trolley! (Harrogate “S”) GC2RAVQ – cache #2027
Another cache that took several visits before I got my hand on it, in the corner of a supermarket carpark where I found GPS accuracy to be vague so using the GPS once I was wandering about all over and finding nothing. The next couple of times I called in there were people sitting in cars nearby… finally I went on a wet Friday afternoon, without a GPS but after having looked closely at where the cache appeared to be on the satellite picture. Whoever had been to the cache previously had not hidden it too well and I could see it silhouetted under the railings as I drove up… I hid it back out of sight behind a bolt head
