We then split up, some hungry souls headed off for the nearest Frankie’n’Bennys – where Kerry gets them half price food, while others cached one way, and Matt, Angel78 and I headed for the next set of London Calling labs in Regents Park
This was going to be a complicated walk as there was an earlier set of Lab caches in the park, plus other caches to do, so we had to flick between devices and screens to work out the best route to cover everything
29th April 2023 – Lions of London – GC9BXC6 – cache #6317
First though was this puzzle cache which Matt already had the coordinates for – the start point was the lion house in London Zoo which is in Regents Park and the final was on our way to the park. The biggest holdup we had here was a coupe who were going fro wherever they had been married to have photo’s taken in Regents Park, but their photographer wanted ‘informal’ shots along the way, so they were stood right next to the cache waiting for the pedestrian crossing to be clear of both cars and people so they could walk across being photographed, we were waiting just on the corner and could actually see the cache behind them, but had to hang about until they had gone to have chance to retrieve it.

Last of the LC23 Sherlock Holmes set
It was here that we split up, Matthew went off to do some caches at the other side of Regents Park, whereas Angel78 and I decided we would walk down to Hyde Park and do the Lab caches set out there by the LC23 committee, Physical caches are not allowed within the Royal Parks so there were only the 10 Lab caches to do, our walk between the park did take us past the Baskin Robbins shop on Baker Street where we popped in for some refreshment
29th April 2023 – LC23 – Hyde Park: Marble Arch to Hyde Park Corner Lab Cache – Marble Arch – cache #6334
Basically the Labs were all set out along the west edge of the park, which was pretty busy, it being a nice sunny Bank Holiday Saturday

Then it was back to St Mary’s for the evening event, we were pretty weary from all the walking in the hot sun, and apart from the ice cream hadn’t eaten anything since breakfast so we were getting hungry as well
29th April 2023 – LC23: The Marylebone Mystery – GCA2DMX – cache #6344
This apparently was the highest attended ‘regular’ event in the UK with 638 attended logs… which probably explains why there weren’t really enough sets of information to solve the last 10 puzzle lab caches, which were a paper trail through the evidence supplied to find the answers to the questions and ultimately unmask the killer
29th April 2023 – LC23 – The Case of the Fallen Cacher Lab Cache – 1) Identifying the Victim – cache #6345
It began with the early attendees getting to the ‘evidence’ first
29th April 2023 – LC23 – The Case of the Fallen Cacher Lab Cache – 2) Understanding the Autopsy – cache #6346

29th April 2023 – LC23 – The Case of the Fallen Cacher Lab Cache – 3) A Poisoned Apple? – cache #6347
Then it became a case of ‘who do I know who has got an answer ?’
29th April 2023 – LC23 – The Case of the Fallen Cacher Lab Cache – 4) Where was he Poisoned? – cache #6348
And finally developed into sending a screen shot of the answers by Whatsapp to your friends
29th April 2023 – LC23 – The Case of the Fallen Cacher Lab Cache – 5) A Hidden Secret – cache #6349
The strange thing with that was that the email with the answers listed was sent to someone not connected with the LC23 committee at 17:23 that day… for an event that didn’t start until 18:00
29th April 2023 – LC23 – The Case of the Fallen Cacher Lab Cache – 6) Who Murdered Harry Fish? – cache #6350

And that was the end of London Calling 2023 (well there was a CITO on Wimbledon Common the next morning, but we didn’t go, so it was the end for us)
So around 7:15 we were footsore and weary, hungry and thirsty so headed off back towards Baker Street tube station, and came across a restaurant already quite busy with caches… but they had a table for two so we sat down for welcome rest and refreshment…
Then for some reason the question came up as to how far we had walked, which was 22,000 steps, and how far it was back to the Hotel, not quite 4 miles… and for some reason we decided to walk it !
29th April 2023 – The name is Sherlock Holmes and the address is … – GC891DN – cache #6355
We had to walk back passed Baker Street tube station, so we stopped off at the Sherlock Holmes statue to get the second part of the Multicache (which involves you getting answers from both 221b Baker Street and the statue)
29th April 2023 – The Mercers’ Maiden Lab Cache – Gresham College – cache #6356
The only other cache we passed on the way back was this one… well Had already done all the caches around the stations and on the route from the Hotel to Kings Cross
So Saturday ended with 75 cache finds (60 of them being LC23 Lab caches) and 30,500 steps, 14.6 miles walked. So I was now on 149 finds with a day to go still, well ahead of my 120 anticipated finds
