My major concern with this trip to London was public transport… I had a train booked at 12:15 from Leeds Station, and two ways to get there, either the X84 bus, or a bus to Menston Station and the train from there.
Now from my Facebook friends I know that the buses are not reliable, often buses just don’t come, and the trains are only a little better – so I couldn’t rely on just a straightforward 11:20 bus to Menston and a train from there that got me to Leeds for 12:10.
The option before that was the 11:05 X84 bus to Leeds, which should get me there about 12:05 leaving not much time to walk down to the train station
In the end I decided that the only way to be sure was to go an hour earlier, the 10:05 bus to Leeds, and if that blobbed then the 10:20 bus to Menston for the train… It is ridiculous that a) there is so little public transport, and b) you can’t trust the timetables will be kept to, to the extent that you have to plan on arriving over an hour early to make sure you get to the main station in time for your train.
In the end everything was on time, so I arrived in Leeds with an hour to kill, well best do a set of Labs then

27th April 2023 – SideTracked – King’s Cross Lab Cache – Memorial to the Fire of 1987 – cache #6222
This one I couldn’t find either… at least I was looking for a monument to the victims of the Kings Cross fire that had two plaques, an upper and a lower… and I found one of them but I couldn’t get it to accept the answer in any format I could think of… so in the end I gave up and headed for my Hotel, once in the hotel I did some googling and found there were two memorials, both with a higher and a lower plaque, and I had been at the wrong one… so I found the answer on line and completed the Lab
27th April 2023 – SideTracked – King’s Cross Lab Cache – Station Poetry – cache #6223
This was another I couldn’t answer straight away at the station, as it needed you to google the answer, which I did, in my hotel room
Once I had unpacked a bit and had a cup of tea I had to decide what to do with the evening, when we had come down to that London in ’21 we had had to miss out on one Lab cache as it was part of a sequential Harry Potter set, the start of the set wasn’t that far away so I decided to head over that way and find that set of Lab caches in the correct order… getting other caches along the way, the first being just across the road from the hotel

Only after that did I look at the geocaching map, see there was this virtual cache nearby and read the description to find that I was already there, with the answer

45 caches, a good start towards my expectation of 120 for the weekend.
One thing I had been concerned about was whether I was going to be able to walk around all weekend without my leg giving me issues, first day I was okay after I had got walking and had got ‘warmed up’ in the end on Thursday I did 28,500 steps, 13.9 miles, and felt okay, how I would go on the next morning I didn’t know.
