I had to go into Bradford to collect a hearth from the Stone Mason, on the way back I turned off the road to get this Lab Cache, for which I didn’t actually have to get out of the van to read the sign

Sunday morning, and I was heading to the Supermarket to do the weekly shop, but went the long way round via this cache, which was in a bush surrounded by thorns (as they invariably are)

Fortunately there were 2 sets of Lab caches in Ilkley to go at, so one a day filled up 10 days

I had looked for this one before, probably 18 months ago, but it had gone missing, so I went back one lunchtime and found it

I was working on Saturday so didn’t finish until it was dark, and cold, and windy, and wet… in fact it was horrible weather, so although I found this one relatively easy (even though I had to walk round a little to get the clues, then go back to my car to shelter while I worked out the co-ords) I didn’t actually sign the log sheet (it was too cold and wet for that) just took a photo to prove I had found it

Another Sunday, another ‘long way round’ trip to the supermarket, and a muddy verge where the cache was hid, that’s why December and January need filling, I dislike tracking about in mud and getting cold and wet finding caches

20th December 2022 – Addingham’s Blue Plaques #1 (East) Lab Cache – BP#3: The Rookery – cache #6145
There were also a set of Lab caches in Addingham, which though 4 miles in the wrong direction were not impractical to do after work if I got out straight away and didn’t stay late doing paperwork

21st December 2022 – Historic Baildon Lab Cache – Baildon Hall – cache #6146
I had to take a piece of flue pipe to a job in Baildon, conveniently just across the road from this Lab cache… an unexpected cache to fill a blank day, so my plan became easier

24th December 2022 – 12. B to A to B GC6H4KH – cache #6148
Christmas was going to be a problem in caching, as I am the chef on Christmas Day I couldn’t really sneak out to find a cache, but as I was going out for my normal Christmas Eve curry I could drive instead of walk down to the town and so take a diversion too pick up this cache on the way down… an easy find on a roadside bench with a nearby place to park

25th December 2022 – Ilkley Virtual #1: The Old Bridge GC9P5J5 – cache #6149
Then at midnight on my way home I could divert to Ilkley to get this Virtual cache… I did really pull up in the car at 23:58 and wait two minutes until it was passed midnight before going for the cache. It was Christmas Day so I could legitimately log the cache
To claim the virtual you had to take a picture of the view from the bridge… there wasn’t much of one !

26th December 2022 – Plane spotter GC9VHCC – cache #6150
A bright sunny Boxing Day, but freezing cold (literally) and blowing a howling gale. This cache up near the airport was a bit of a walk from where you park and I didn’t really enjoy it at all

Finally for 2022, an event in Halifax to watch the sun set on the winter solstice… though you couldn’t see the sun, it was pouring with rain and cold and windy… but there still was a good turnout
